A Brief Focus History
Focus Martial Arts (FMA) Was formed in 2001 by Head Instructor Daragh Bolton 4th Degree. FMA was created to meet the needs of the students, it is a student oriented style aiming at offering the best quality Martial Arts training around.
The original club in Stillorgan which is still active today was passed on to Daragh by his previous Instructor Mr. Stephen White from Wicklow. Daragh brought that club from 5 members in 1995 to 135 members today, producing national, European and World champions.
March 2006 saw the long awaited opening of FMA Gorey, a fully equipped full time dedicated martial arts and fitness centre open to all styles of martial artists. This had been Daraghs dream since he first started teaching back in 1994. "I still have to pinch myself sometimes when I step back and look at what we have achieved, not just in Gorey but in Stillorgan also. You need to have a dedicated group of people behind you to be a success and we are blessed with the members we have"
FMA
also operates in over 40 secondary schools working with PE staff to
offer one of the most realistic Self Defence courses around today. Teaching
over 500 transition year students on a weekly basis, the instructors are giving
potentially life-
In todays world there is an ever increasing threat to ourselves and our loved ones, I am confident that each student that completes our course will leave with a greater sense of awareness, safety and confidence in the knowledge that if the need arises they now have a better chance of surviving a dangerous situation.
FMA also works tirelessly in aid of many charities, having donated over €10,000 over the past 15 years towards many worthy organisations like; People in Need, St. Lukes Cancer ward, and the Red Cross just to name a few.
